Grow Your School, Pt. 1

Streamline and Grow Your Ballet Program

Let's face it, as a dance studio owner, children's ballet (and other dance) classes are going to be one of your biggest sources of revenue. But the reality is, these classes are actually so much more.

BE A POSITIVE INFLUENCE

A ballet school is first and foremost a business--usually a for-profit business. And while the goal of a for-profit business is to bring in revenue, it can (and should) also have a bigger purpose. Businesses with a passion and a purpose have something intangible that sets them apart from others. Be the dance studio that CARES about your students. Know the benefits ballet lends your students. Let your teachers and parents know what those benefits are.

Spread the Word:
- If you haven't yet, start a blog on your website.
- Include posts that cover the benefits of ballet for students. You can include posts targeted toward different age groups: toddlers, preschoolers, etc.
- Remember, posts don't need to be long. They can be as short as 200 to 300 words as long as they contain good content.
- Don't forget to post links to your blog on your social media.

YOUR CHILDREN’S BALLET CLASSES WILL BE THE FOUNDATION FOR YOUR MORE ADVANCED CLASSES

Have you ever heard it's easier to teach someone the right way The first time than to correct bad habits later on? Setting a high standard for your beginning ballet, pre-ballet, and even preschool ballet classes can go a long way. By high standard, I mean teaching technique and dance concepts that are age-appropriate; teaching classroom etiquette like respect, following directions, and waiting for your turn; and (most importantly) inspiring the joy of dance.

Children who are happy in ballet class are more likely to return AND will learn more. Their technique will even be better. When they learn proper technique early on, they'll carry it with them as they advance. They'll be examples to other new students as they progress through pre-ballet levels and into Ballet 1. Proper classroom etiquette can go a long way as well. Imagine teaching a Ballet 1 class in which over half the students have come up through a pre-ballet program that has taught them the proper use of turnout and correct ballet posture; a pre-ballet program that has taught them what to expect and how to behave appropriately in ballet class.

Happy Dancing!

How to grow your dance studio, part 1

What We’re All About

At Once Upon a Ballet, we want to help you teach dance in a way that sparks your students’ imaginations, keeps their attention, and has them leaving class excited for what’s next.

DANCE CURRICULUMS

Our complete curriculums for toddler and preschool dance and children’s ballet give you a full year of lesson plans for each age group. Our lesson plans are rooted in child development and teach dance through imagination and play. We strongly emphasize correct, age-appropriate ballet techniques for young children, as well as building self-esteem, creativity, problem-solving, and classroom skills.

CERTIFIED TEACHERS

If you teach toddler or preschool dance, our teacher certification course gives you the tools to better connect with your littlest students, keep their attention, and have better classroom behavior.

LICENSED STUDIOS

For our licensed studios, we provide branding and marketing support to help them grow their classes that use our curriculums.
